Fate Hagood III grew up in Compton, California, a place that shaped both his outlook and his imagination. Life there came with its share of challenges, but it also came with a culture full of music, stories, and creativity. Funk records spun in the background, comic books filled the shelves, kung fu movies played on late-night television, and church was always a part of life.
All of those influences eventually found their way into his storytelling.
The stories he writes rarely stay confined to one genre. Pieces of history, folklore, urban life, and supernatural mystery tend to collide in the worlds he creates. What begins as something familiar slowly reveals deeper layers beneath it.
